Martín Davico and Marco Michelutto have a fun new adventure for Dungeons & Dragons players in time for Halloween. A Ghastly Mess is a little different from many others because it’s meant to be low stakes and chill.
The story is more of an “interesting mystery-type of social adventure.” It actually looks really nice to play at times instead of more intense combat-heavy adventures that we see a lot of the time. Now, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give credit to Fran Bianchi for their absolutely fun artwork in this supplement.
Just be warned that there are suggestions of mass murder and suicide. Just make sure your party is okay before playing this one-shot.
A Ghastly Mess is a one-shot adventure for a group of 3rd-level characters that takes place in a haunted mansion, however, unlike your regular haunted house, the inhabitants of this building are far from scary. The ghosts of the former staff still live in it—or, well, unlive—not realizing they’re deceased and unable to move on because of it. The Lord of the mansion still awaits the return of his beloved, Lenore, for which he has commanded the staff to have the house in pristine condition.
You can purchase A Ghastly Mess from DMs Guild for $4.95.
