Neon has released a crazy new trailer for Brandon Cronenberg‘s upcoming sci-fi horror thriller Possessor. This movie is going to take a dive into a twisted and jacked-up ultra-violent world. It certainly looks like David Cronenberg‘s imaginative madness rubbed off on his son.
This is the synopsis that was shared for the film, and I’m a fan of the concept for the story:
Tasya Vos (Andrea Riseborough) is a corporate agent who uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people’s bodies, driving them to commit assassinations for the benefit of the company. While she has a special gift for the work, her experiences on these jobs have caused a dramatic change in her, and in her own life, she struggles to suppress violent memories and urges. As her mental strain intensifies, she begins to lose control, and soon she finds herself trapped in the mind of a man (Christopher Abbott) whose identity threatens to obliterate her own.
As I’ve said before, this is the kind of film that will take audiences to the edge of insanity and then jump off. I’m looking forward to taking the ride! The movie also stars Rossif Sutherland, Tuppence Middleton, Sean Bean, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Neon will release Cronenberg’s Possessor in select US theaters on October 9th.
