Ewan McGregor has offered an update on Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which will be set between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.
During a recent interview with ET, McGregor said that the Disney+ series will start shooting in the spring of 2021. He went on to say, “I’m really excited about it. It’s gonna be great, I think.”
The actor then went on to confirm that this Star Wars project will be a standalone series, saying, “As I understand, it’s a standalone season. We’ll see. Who knows?”
Deborah Chow (Better Call Saul, American Gods, The Mandalorian) will direct the series as well as serve as showrunner, with Hossein Amini (Drive, McMafia) and Joby Harold (Awake, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) writing.
There have been some rumored details on the story that the series will tell. It’s said that Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader will appear in the show and that the story primarily revolves around Darth Vader’s hunt for his former Master, Obi-Wan. This has yet to be confirmed, but it would make sense for this to be a part of the story.
I’m excited about this series! It’s going to be awesome to see McGregor back in the role of Kenobi after all these years!
