Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan has stated that “99 percent” of the “thousands” of PlayStation 4 games its tested will be playable on PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility.
Ryan continued to say that he “expects up to four years for the PlayStation 4’s expected life span.”
“The PS4 community will continue to be incredibly important to us for three or four years,” Ryan said. “Many will transition to PS5, we hope if we do our job well, but tens of millions will still be engaged with the PS4.”
This commitment to PS4 was echoed with Sony’s announcement that Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy a Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4.
