Disney+ has debuted a mid-season trailer for its latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series Loki seeing the titular variant and Sylvie arrested by the Time Variance Authority. Created by Rick and Morty alum Michael Waldron, the series centers on the 2012 iteration of the God of Mischief after he escapes with the Tesseract from Avengers: Endgame and is arrested by the TVA and recruited to track down a variant killing off members of the organization. Tom Hiddleston reprises his role and leads a cast that includes Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia Di Martino, Eugene Cordero and Sasha Lane.
One of the first projects to enter development at the streaming service and launch Phase 4 of the MCU, Loki has become another hit for Marvel Studios, scoring rave reviews and becoming Disney+’s most-watched series premiere. As the mystery has continued to unfold regarding the TVA and mysterious Time Keepers, theories have continually flowed regarding the answers behind the series of murders and Loki’s plan of escape. With Sylvie’s identity now revealed and a bit of backstory discussed, Disney+ is offering a little hint of what’s coming next.
With just a few days left until the latter half of season 1 continues, Disney+ has debuted a new sneak peak for what’s to come from the next three episodes of Loki. In addition to catching audiences up on what has occurred thus far, the video sees Loki and the murderous variant Sylvie in the custody of the TVA. Check out the teaser below:
Episode 3 ended on quite the cliffhanger with Loki and Sylvie trapped on the doomed moon Lamentis-1 after failing to get to an evacuation ship before it’s destroyed by meteors from the crumbling nearby planet. The trailer may not offer a direct explanation as to how the two escape the predicament, especially as they witness more meteor destruction, but it does offer some semblance of comfort that their stories will continue as they wind up in the custody of the TVA. How exactly this comes to be is currently unknown, but given Loki has clued Mobius in to the fact Sylvie is hiding in apocalypses and Loki is still wearing the clothing given to him by the agency, there’s always the possibility they’ll be tracked down on Lamentis-1 and saved in time.
With Sylvie’s TemPad destroyed by Loki after the train battle, the duo will certainly have to come up with a new plan and while it may not be the most enticing option, the TVA may just be what they need to escape. Whatever method they take to escape, the assurance that two of the MCU’s most-interesting characters will live on and get further explorations is sure to keep audience anticipation high going into the final three episodes. Disney+’s Loki returns with episode 4 on Wednesday.
