Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors it making his jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has joined the cast of Ant-Man 3. According to sources close to the production, he might be taking on the villainous role of Kang the Conqueror.
Kang is a time-traveling conqueror with vast powers and technological supremacy, “Kang has taken every opportunity to torment the Marvel Universe, and is one of the Avengers’ greatest foes. Kang has amassed an empire with a citizenry of millions, and cut a swath of terror through the ages.”
The report adds that with “so many new characters in the MCU, there could be a twist with how the character is featured in future films, but as of now he is likely to be one of the main villains in the next installment in the franchise.”
It’s awesome that Kang the Conqueror is going to make his big MCU debut! This is a great villainous character, and I can’t wait to see how Kevin Feige and the Marvel creative team work him into the story!
The director of the first two Ant-Man films, Peyton Reed, will be back to direct the third one with a script written by Jeff Loveness. Majors will join returning stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and hopefully Michelle Pfeiffer.
We have no idea what the story for Ant-Man 3 will entail, but when previously talking about the future of the MCU like Ant-Man, Kevin Feige said, “The chess pieces were arranged very purposefully after Endgame. Those that are off the board are off, and those that are still on, you never know.”
It’s safe to say that Cassie Lang will be involved with the story somehow. The older version of the character was introduced in Avengers: Endgame, and she was played by Emma Fuhrmann. When previously talking about the movie, Reed said:
“I think the third Ant-Man movie is going to be…a much bigger, more sprawling movie than the first two. It’s going to have a very, very different visual template. And that’s all I will say.”
