There’s been a lot of excitement around Michael Keaton reprising his role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in DC’s The Flash movie. This is something a lot of fans never thought they’d see. Well, I guess there’s a chance it might not happen because Keaton returning to the role of Batman is still not a done deal.
Keaton recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and when his possible return to the role of Batman came up he said:
“We’re having discussions, as they say. We’re talking about it. We’ll see if it happens.”
While he’s cooling expectations with this comment, I’m pretty confident that everything will work and we’ll see him once again suit up as Batman, which fans are going to completely flip out over when they see it!
Keaton was also asked about his opinion on who his favorite version of Batman is, enthusiastically revealing, “Me.” Because, of course, he’s the best Batman! He also joked that “all 127” Batmen would show up in The Flash.
The plot of the film will reportedly “introduce general audiences to the idea of the multiverse, one of the core concepts underpinning DC Comics. The multiverse refers to a shifting number of alternate universes that coexist within the larger reality depicted in DC comics. Originally created to explain various contradictory changes the company’s characters experienced over decades, it allows several different versions of the same characters to simultaneously exist and, occasionally, interact.”
Director Andy Muschietti also previously said that the film will be a time travel story, explaining:
“His mother was murdered, his father was trained and incarcerated, and all his journey from then was a man trying to make things right…the script really capture his loquacity, his personality…he’s someone who has the power of changing events of the past, but by doing so, can deteriorate the very fabric of the space-time continuum.”
Screenwriter Christina Hodson went on to say, “The cinematic multiverse is going to be born out of this movie. It’s born out of Barry’s story.”
Ben Affleck will be back as his version of The Dark Knight in the film, and there have been rumors of Warner Bros. trying to get more Batman actors to reprise their roles along with Nicolas Cage as Superman. We’ll have to wait and see if there is any truth to those rumors.
